How do I know if my slates are slipping?
Look for slates sitting lower than their neighbours, gaps in the courses and fragments in the gutters. Slipped slates let water reach the underlay and the roof timbers.
Can I clean moss off my roof?
A little moss is usually harmless. Do not pressure-wash a slate or tile roof, because it can damage the surface and push water under the covering. Ask ADI for advice.
How long do slate and tile roofs last?
It depends on the material, its quality and how the roof has been looked after. Natural slate and good clay tiles can last a very long time, but fixings and underlay often wear out sooner.
